12+ families attended, showing interest in participating and/or helping with the relaunch of the Junior Bulldogs Wrestling Club.
Club History & Overview
Previously competed against: Kersey, Eaton, Ault/Highland, Sterling, Wiggins.
100% volunteer-run organization.
Traditionally a beginner club, but also included intermediate wrestlers.
Welcomes all age levels and weight divisions.
Girls are welcome and encouraged to join!
Wrestling helps athletes build:
Self-confidence
Mental toughness
Sportsmanship
Team participation and discipline
Season & Practice Structure
Season: November – April
Tournaments: February – early April
Practices: 2x per week, 7–8 pm (after HS/MS practices)
Communication: TeamSnap was previously used; may continue
Coaches Needed
Coaches are essential for success.
Requirements:
Wrestling experience preferred
Background check required
Under-18s with wrestling experience may serve as assistant coaches
Coach-to-Athlete Needs:
At least 2 coaches for younger group (K–2)
At least 2 coaches for older group (3–6)
More coaches welcome, especially for tournaments
Athlete Needs
For a strong program, need at least:
12–20 athletes in K–2nd
12–20 athletes in 3rd–6th
Girls are welcome!
Youngest eligible athletes: registered Kindergartners (no pre-K).
Next Steps
Several attendees expressed interest in coaching.
A formal coaching interest form will be sent out.
A Coaches Meeting will be scheduled to finalize practice dates.
